Originally from Louisville, Ky., Claire Donovan began training at the Louisville Ballet School and later studied with Kristen Wenrick. She moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. at 16 to attend the high school boarding program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Jaffe. After high school, Claire was accepted into Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music Ballet Department where she performed notable roles in Jerome Robbins’ Fanfare and Antique Epigraphs, Mark Morris’ Sandpaper Ballet, and Anthony Tudor’s Dark Elegies. Claire was a recipient of the Premier Young Artist Award through the Jacob’s School of Music. Claire graduated in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Ballet Performance and an Outside Field in Psychology.

After graduation, Claire danced professionally with Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Second Company for three years. Claire enjoyed performing in George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, and August Bournonville's La Sylphide while dancing with Oregon Ballet Theatre. Claire has attended summer programs at Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, Lines Contemporary Ballet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre. Claire began her teaching journey when she enrolled in three semesters of ballet pedagogy at Indiana University. She enthusiastically shares her love and knowledge of ballet with students of all ages.
